Anyway, I'm trying to crank up the creative juices for one last go-around. The quarter is done with next week. Thank god for that. This has been one 11-week-long mind-fuck, let me tell you. I thought Fall '06 when I had Intro to Video was bad. I was so wrong it wasn't even funny. I'm not looking forward to my final two quarters when I have to take Portfolio Prep and Portfolio. At least by then, I'll know it's almost over. I'm still adamant about going back to 16 credits in the fall. If I do that, I'll graduate next June instead of next September. I'm so ready for school to be over with. If it hadn't been for HCMC, I would have been finished last fall but in hind-sight, that was when the economy fell into the crapper so maybe that was a blessing in disguise.
Either way, with my ramblings about school and whatnot, I am back and I hope to have some new stuff coming out sometime soon

Do you know any decent tuts for wordpress? I'm not very smart, but I want to make a comic.

Unfortunately, no I don't. With Wordpress, you need a web host that supports PHP and MySQL, and ideally, you should have some understanding of both. Wordpress also has it's own blog community, sort of like Blogger/BlogSpot. There are a number of free services centered around web comic publishing. SmackJeeves, Comic Genesis, and Drunk Duck. Those would probably be your best bet. The only reason I didn't bother with any of those is I have lots of experience with web design and development so it was really no problem to build my own web site and comic manager engine.
Sooooo not looking forward to the bus ride after school. Thank god for earbuds and mp3 players.
I'd thought about posting on DD or whichever a while ago, but people tend to not have any sense for actual quality on sites like that. They only want to see exactly what they want to see and take a shit on anything else. Could be a possibility for a secondary posting just for some visibility as well as here, but I'd rather have a terrible main site of my own than be a little duck lost in a big sea of flotsam. I'll figure it out.

Actually, don't bother with Drunk Duck. Comic Genesis/Keenspace is actually better because I believe not only do they provide hosting but I think if you have your own domain name, you can use with Keenspace's hosting.
And...I also just remembered something else. You don't necessarily need Wordpress to run a comic. When I first started Silent Shadow I used a PHP script called Comikaze. There's also another PHP script called iManga, and both of these use MySQL as the database. Another thing I just realized (as I'm typing this in fact) is that my own Wordpress plugin, Manga+Press, could be a standalone script with some retooling which is something I'll have to think about
That, and there are a number of people who use dA as a type of comic hosting service, which for you would be perfect because you already have support from the people on your watch-list.
Just a thought, though
I'm definitely planning on posting here, I just hope my watchers don't get annoyed by the updates, heehee. I'm also leaning away from Drunk Duck. As far as I can tell, most people are there to post, not to read, but Comic Genesis and especially Keenspot have a more avid audience. Any rate, I have more visibility here than I'd get at DD kinda like you were saying so I'm not sure I want to waste the attention; I don't think anyone would actually follow a series to my own site from there.
Thanks for the script pointers! I'll do some experimenting this weekend and see what I'm not over my head on, heee. I really just want to do something basic, main things are being able to post multiple images vertically each update and...I dunno otherwise, haha.

Whichever you decide; there really isn't a right answer for what you choose to do. I'll probably upload the current chapter of Silent Shadow once it's finished. :\ I really need to find some source of...not inspiration...well, maybe inspiration...to continue working on it, I guess
The problem with a web Luddite like me is I worry about my computer exploding if I script something wrong. Like in that Die Hard movie! They hack into your computer and it explodes up your house!
I'll try to work up at least a test page this weekend, maybe that'll cue up a competetive streak for you to get some work done, hee.

Actually, I can tell you that won't happen. To experiment with something like PHP, you need to have a web server running PHP on your computer
I'm still thinking I should have went to Anime Detour this year, whether or not I actually have the money. Now, it's too late though. Missed pre-registration and I don't feel like waiting in line for hours and having to pay $50-60 at the door to get in :\
Ah, well I guess I'll never get a site running then, will I?
